A home wind turbine in Ireland

A Kodair KW30 at a large private residence in Ireland shows what small wind can do even where average wind speeds are moderate.

The challenge

High demand at a moderate wind site

Large private residences can use far more electricity than a typical home, with swimming pools, water heating, circulation pumps and other energy-intensive equipment.

For this property in Ireland, the aim was to reduce reliance on grid electricity while supporting high year-round use, at a site with an average wind speed of about 5.0 m/s.

The solution

Generating electricity on site

On 27 May 2024, a Kodair KW30 was installed at the property.

Pools and their equipment draw power day and night. A wind turbine generates whenever there is suitable wind, including overnight and through the winter, when demand is often higher and solar output lower.

The results

136,925 kWh generated

Since installation, the turbine has generated 136,925 kWh: an annualised average of about 57,500 kWh a year, based on production to 12 October 2026.

The site’s average wind speed is just 5.0 m/s. The results show that substantial generation is possible at moderate wind sites when the turbine and installation are matched to the site through careful selection and site assessment.

Generation depends on each site’s wind. Ask us for an estimate for your site.
