Two farm wind turbines in Yorkshire
Two new Kodair KW30 turbines replaced two older machines that had been out of service for years, at a site with an excellent wind resource.
Restoring wind energy production
A working farm in Yorkshire had two older wind turbines that had been out of service for several years. In their best years, they generated about 40,000 kWh of electricity a year between them.
With an average wind speed of about 7.0 m/s, the site had excellent potential. The aim was to replace the failed capacity with reliable, high-performance turbines that make full use of the wind.
Two new KW30 turbines
In early 2026, Kodair Wind completed the installation of two new KW30 turbines on the farm.
This was a completely new installation rather than a reuse of existing foundations, giving the farm modern wind energy infrastructure placed to make the most of its wind conditions.
Projected annual generation
- KW30 turbine 1
- 89,040 kWh
- KW30 turbine 2
- 94,448 kWh
- Combined
- 183,488 kWh
The older turbines produced about 40,000 kWh a year between them at their best. The two KW30s are projected to produce 183,488 kWh a year combined: about 4.6 times as much, an increase of almost 359%.
Wind speed is one of the most important factors in turbine performance. Matching the turbine to the site makes an enormous difference to annual generation.
The customer is absolutely delighted with the two Kodair KW30 wind turbines and can hardly believe the electricity production figures being achieved. After years of having two older turbines out of operation, the performance of the new machines has exceeded expectations.
A new generation of small wind
Across the UK and Ireland, many farms already have experience of small wind, but older installations may no longer deliver the reliability or output they once did. Kodair Wind can revisit these sites and unlock their full renewable energy potential.
Generation depends on each site’s wind. Ask us for an estimate for your site.
