The project

Harnessing the wind in West Yorkshire

Since 16 June 2025, a single Kodair KW30 has been generating on a farm in rural West Yorkshire, giving it a dedicated source of locally generated electricity.

The aim was simple: use the available wind to generate substantial amounts of clean electricity and support the farm’s long-term energy needs.

The results

Over 160,000 kWh generated

By 12 October 2026, about 16 months after installation, the turbine had generated 160,660 kWh: an annualised average of about 121,000 kWh a year.

Unlike solar PV, a wind turbine generates day and night, with strong production in autumn and winter when demand can be highest. Where the power is used on site, that cuts the electricity a farm has to buy.

Matching the turbine to the site

The figures show what one small wind turbine can achieve at a suitable site, and why it matters to choose the right turbine, assess the wind resource and monitor real-world generation.

Generation depends on each site’s wind. Ask us for an estimate for your site.
